"Finding Lost" is the latest entry in the category of "unauthorized" guides to the show, in which a group of plane crash survivors try to stay alive and unravel mysteries on a Pacific island that defy conventional explanations.
This book is everything you'd hoped to find in earlier books, covering the entire show so far. It focuses on guiding viewers through the episodes, with brief plot details, highlights, unanswered questions, "Did you notice?" features and tallies of "the numbers," injuries and interesting facts from each episode.
In addition, there are profiles of the actors and their characters, and a neat guide to the sites where the shows were filmed in Oahu.
In another chapter, Stafford lists some of the hidden connections between the main characters. And sprinkled throughout the book are sidebars explaining what "the Others" have been whispering in the jungle, possible interpretations of the ubiquitous numbers, parental issues of the various characters, the lives Dr. Jack has saved - and failed to save - and a side-by-side comparison of the Tailies' and the fuselage survivors' first 48 days on the island.
A lot of this material can be found on the Internet, if you want to take the time to seek it out. Stafford even lists sites to check out if you want to look up all the exhaustive details and crackpot theories of fans trying to figure it all out. But her book makes the information a lot more accessible and fun to read.
