What they're saying about our books

Contents Under Pressure

Heavy Metal’s preeminent scribe Martin Popoff has returned to us again, but instead of inciting further debates and arguments centered on some new and controversial list he has compiled he has instead leveled his considerable talents on a band that has long been deserving of some time in the spotlight. RUSH has at times been either the most intelligent band in rock or the most enigmatic, but at all times defying the labels that fans and critics insist on giving them. Are they a rock band, are they progressive, are they one of the forebears of metal? In Contents Under Pressure Popoff gives the band the chance to answer these questions themselves rather than trying to define them himself. In doing so he provides a fascinating ride through the bands 35 years in the business. All narrated by a man that not only has intimate knowledge of each album but the trust of a band to tell their story.

… the true power of Contents Under Pressure comes from a lot of smaller revelations about a band that has never sought the attention of adoring fans…

The best of this book for me though is the pictures. The book is filled with page after page of great photos of the band and their various looks throughout their careers.

PITRIFF RATING - 10/10 … This is a book that celebrates RUSH, not eulogizes them though, for they are even now preparing to mount a massive world tour. What would be truly fitting is if the band would be inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in the near future, they are more than deserving of the honor. Anyone starting a campaign for the band can count me in. 5 Stars.
