Could Canada's next great crime writer be from small-town Alberta? With his third Eddie Dancer mystery, Okotoks writer Mike Harrison has shown himself to be one to watch.
The story starts when a downsized ad exec tries to stop a thug from hitting his wife. The would-be rescuer gets beaten up, arrested and shaken down for $50,000. Instead of paying, he offers to take the kid on in the boxing ring. Then his wife hires private investigator Dancer to stop the fight.
Tautly written and darkly funny, this is a great read.
