Quill & Quire selected Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere as one of six Canadian Books of the Year. The article said, "John McFetridge has mastered a very American form, the urban police thriller...(it) develops into a sprawling portrait of the city that's rare for any novel, genre or literary." The Books of the Year feature appeared in the December 2008 issue of Quill & Quire.
