First popularized in Tolkien’s classic and bestselling series, The Lord of The Rings has garnered millions of fans around the world. The stunning film trilogy by Peter Jackson was groundbreaking, beautiful, and, as expected, hugely successful. The Lord of the Films is a unique scene-by-scene guide to all of the Lord of the Rings movies, with lots of games, puzzles, and interviews with the filmmakers tossed in.
In this book, each scene in each movie is tackled on four different fronts: a closer look at the plot and the action, a look behind the scenes, a reveal of mistakes that slipped through, and audiences’ reactions. In addition to the famous live-action trilogy, other related films (such as the animated adaptations) are covered as well.
As an added bonus, the author reveals details about the prequel films currently in production and due out in theatres in 2011 and 2012.
After reading this book, fans will feel like they’re watching The Lord of the Rings for the first time all over again!
I love my cat, she's sitting on my desk watching as I type this. So... besides my darling cat, on my desk I have had the same 3 books forever... you guessed it ... it would have to be J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of The Rings trilogy. Now, I have to make room for a fourth... J. W. Braun's LORD of THE FILMS. What a joy this book is! I find myself referring to it as much as I do the other three... maybe more. Oh, let's be honest here... since I bought it... a LOT more. ( One reason being, that my collection of the LOTR Films is within arms reach, and I watch them on my computer. A lot. Another reason is that J.W. Braun's Lord of The Films is much funnier than the Tolkien,
[ sorry, JRR ] and I absolutely LOVE knowing all of the "insider info" that the book is STUFFED with. ) So... in order to make room for J.W. Braun's book... something else has to go. I need my laptop, my books, (like I said) and my task lighting. My in and out baskets, my jar with my pencils and stuff. My teacup. I need the potted plant to hide behind. But something HAS to go to make room for Lord of The Films. ...*sigh*... "How has it come to this ?" ...Things aren't looking too good for the cat. --- Thanks, J.W.

Wonderfully written, this book answers every question I ever had about these movies, and even some that never even occurred to me in the past. Well-researched, and put together. J.W. Braun has a bright future ahead of him.

I love the Lord of the Rings movies, and I feel that Lord of the Films is the perfect complement to them. J.W. Braun has dug up all sorts of interesting tidbits about the stories, the actors, the characters, the sets, the art, and much more! As someone who really enjoys learning random details about all sorts of the things, I loved this book! The interviews are interesting, the writing is engaging and light-hearted, and it's pretty obvious that Braun knows what he's talking about.
This book is a must for anyone who loves the Lord of the Rings movies!

As a fan of both LotR and trivia, this book was right up my alley. In addition to the plethora of interesting facts about the creation and impact of the three films, Braun's writing was entertaining and humorous. Reading the book made me remember all the things I love about the LotR story (both the book and the films) and want to revisit both!
