Dave Matthews Band FanFare: Stories by fans for fans
In 1998, ECW Press published Step Into the Light, chronicling the rise of the phenomenally popular Dave Matthews Band. The response to the book was overwhelming, and fans wrote to us about their first-hand experiences with the band. The stories were outrageous, hilarious and heartfelt, and proved that fans possess rare information about the band.
These are stories only fans would know. Like the fact that Dave Matthews wants to stop performing his acoustic shows because of the audiences’ rude behaviour. Or that Boyd (the violinist) often chats online with members of the fan club. Did you know that drummer Carter Beauford once invited a group of fans onto the tour bus to eat pizza with him and watch movies? Another fan snapped one of the only known pictures of flutist Leroi Moore without his sunglasses on! And Matthews has been known to call his fans to thank them for their letters – but most don’t believe it’s him!
FanFare takes readers to the core of the Dave Matthews Band phenomenon: a legion of loyal, caring fans, and a talented band that would do just about anything to please them.
