Over the last twenty years, John Barton, author of Sweet Ellipsis, has written and published six award-winning collections of poetry, including West of Darkness: a portrait of Emily Carr (Penumbra Press; winner of the 1988 Archibald Lampman Award) and Designs from the Interior (House of Anansi; winner of the 1995 Archibald Lampman Award). He co-edits Arc: Canada's National Poetry Magazine and coordinates publishing at the National Museum of Science and Technology and the National Aviation Museum.
