Brian Harvey grew up on the west coast of Canada. He studied marine biology and fish physiology at the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia, receiving his Ph.D. in 1979. He founded World Fisheries Trust, a Canadian conservation organization, and served for ten years as Executive Director, managing fisheries projects in Canada, Asia and South America. He is now an independent conservation biologist specializing in endangered fish species. Brian lives in Victoria. When he is not writing, he sails and plays the piano.
